<text>This site allows users to explore the natural sciences and humanities collections of Museum Victoria in Australia, featuring collections of zoology, geology, palaeontology, history, indigenous cultures and technology. Over 1.15 million records were presented at launch in 2015, accompanied by 170,000 images.

Museum Victoria has adopted an Open Access Policy that covers release of collections information. To that end, elements of each record that are 'data' are CC0 (CC zero). Authored text on each page is licensed as CC-BY 4.0. Rights for images are individually stated (this is still ongoing work). At September 2015, more than 83,700 images are copyright Museum Victoria and are released as CC-BY 4.0. Another 32,800 are released as Public Domain. We plan further open releases of images over time.

See the launch blog post at http://museumvictoria.com.au/about/mv-blog/aug-2015/explore-our-collections-247/</text>
