Cattin was a professional wood producer who took photographs of everyday situations in his free time between 1900 and 1930. Most of the manuscripts were written in the late 14th and 15th century. Theological works comprise two thirds of the total collection, a quarter can be assigned to the liberal arts, while law and medicine account for the rest. There are around 350 volumes containing works in German and 90 containing works in Greek, but the majority are written in Latin.
